Where electronics & technology is made in China

Shenzhen (Huaqiangbei) • Zhengzhou (Foxconn cluster)

Huaqiangbei in Shenzhen is a 1km² electronics district with over 20,000 verified suppliers. Factory-level access here means buying at the same price as the big regional distributors, before they add their 60–100% markup. The Zhengzhou Foxconn cluster adds capacity for high-volume basic electronics and accessories.

Deeper, product-specific guides covering manufacturing region, technical specification, compliance for your market, and landed-cost context.

Compliance for your market

Compliance checked at the factory, not at your port

Ask about compliance documentation →

CE and UKCA for Europe and the UK, FCC for the US, ISED for Canada, RCM for Australia, plus RoHS and the approvals your market needs. Checked at the factory before shipment, with test reports on every order.

Every order includes full compliance documentation. Goods that do not meet the standards for your market stay in China at the factory's cost, you do not pay freight on non-compliant products.

How it works

From your brief to goods landed at your door

01

Send a brief

Product name, quantity, quality grade, and target price. A photo or reference product is helpful. No commitment required to get a quote.

02

Factory identification

We identify and physically visit shortlisted electronics & technology factories in Shenzhen (Huaqiangbei). Factory-gate pricing negotiated directly.

03

Pre-shipment QC

Finished goods inspected at the factory before the container is sealed. Compliance documentation verified. Failed goods stay in China.

04

Freight to your market

Sea, rail, air or express to your port or door, with the carrier schedule confirmed in your quote. Full documentation for customs clearance provided.

What buyers need to know

Sourcing electronics & technology from China, the full picture

Most electronics sold around the world are made in China, but very little of it is bought factory-direct. The usual chain runs from a Shenzhen manufacturer to a Hong Kong or Guangdong trading company, then a regional importer, then a local distributor. Each step adds 20–40% margin.

Buying factory-direct from Shenzhen cuts out the trading company and the importer. You buy from the same factories the large chains use, at the price they pay.

Electronics compliance: what importers need to check

Every market has its own rules for electronics. In the EU, products need CE marking under the Low Voltage Directive (LVD), the Radio Equipment Directive (RED for wireless products), and RoHS. The UK uses UKCA alongside CE. The US needs FCC authorisation for anything that emits radio frequency, Canada needs ISED, and Australia needs RCM. We confirm which rules apply to your product and your market, then check them at the Shenzhen factory before shipment, not when the goods reach your port.

A common mistake is accepting a third-party "CE certificate" issued by a Chinese certification body. These have no legal standing in the EU. Genuine CE compliance needs an EU Declaration of Conformity signed by the manufacturer or authorised representative, referencing the relevant harmonised standards and backed by a technical file. The same principle holds elsewhere: the paperwork has to match what your market's regulator expects. That is what we obtain and check for every electronics order.

Import duty and landed cost for electronics from China

Duty and VAT or GST depend on the product's HS code and the market you import into. We quote a full landed cost for your country, including freight, duty and import tax, before you commit. For the US, tariffs on Chinese goods change often, so we quote the duty on the day you order. Our market pages for the UK, Europe, the US, Canada, Australia, the UAE and South Africa set out the rules for each.

A typical Shenzhen electronics order lands at 40–55% below the price quoted by local trade distributors for the same specification, even after import duty, sea freight and customs clearance.

Common questions

Electronics & Technology, sourcing questions answered

Can you source electronics from China with the right certification for my market?

Yes. We check CE and UKCA for Europe and the UK, FCC for the US, ISED for Canada, RCM for Australia, RoHS, and whatever else your market needs, at the Shenzhen factory before shipment. Goods that fail stay in China, so you do not pay freight on non-compliant products.

What electronics can you source directly from Shenzhen?

Ériu Sourcing sources consumer electronics accessories, cables and chargers, IT hardware and peripherals, smart home devices, networking equipment, phone accessories, and industrial electronics directly from Shenzhen manufacturers. Direct access to Huaqiangbei means factory-gate pricing.

How much can retailers save sourcing electronics directly from China?

Electronics retailers typically save 40–55% on landed cost compared with buying through local or regional trade distributors. The saving comes from removing the importer and distributor margins, which together typically add 60–100% onto the China factory price.

Do I need an import licence to import electronics from China?

Most markets do not need a special licence for everyday consumer electronics, but you will usually need an importer registration, such as an EORI number in the UK or EU. Check the market page for your country. We supply the commercial invoice, packing list and Bill of Lading your customs broker needs.

What is the difference between genuine CE marking and a CE certificate issued in China?

Genuine CE marking needs an EU Declaration of Conformity signed by the manufacturer or EU authorised representative, referencing specific harmonised EU standards and backed by a technical file. A "CE certificate" from a Chinese third-party body has no legal standing in the EU. We obtain and check proper compliance documents for your market, not Chinese third-party certificates.

What import duty applies to electronics from China?

It depends on the HS code and where you import into. Duty and VAT or GST vary by product and market, so we confirm the rate for each item and quote the full landed cost, including freight, duty and import tax, before you commit. For the US, tariffs change often and we quote the duty on the day you order.
