Phone replacement batteries, capacity-tested and shipped legally to Ireland

Batteries are the second repair after screens, and the riskiest part to buy blind. A cheap cell can be under its rated capacity, old stock, or arrive swollen. Ériu Sourcing buys replacement batteries from Shenzhen cell and pack makers, tests capacity and condition before shipment, and moves them as dangerous goods with the right paperwork.

Where this is made in China

Guangdong (Shenzhen and Dongguan battery cluster)

The Shenzhen and Dongguan cluster makes most of the world's phone battery packs. Quality varies widely between high-capacity packs from real cell makers and relabelled old stock. Date codes, capacity tests and a valid UN38.3 report for the exact model are what we check before a battery leaves China.

EU & Irish Compliance

What we verify at the factory, before the container is sealed

  • UN38.3 transport testing for each battery model; batteries without a valid report do not ship
  • Shipped under UN3480 as Class 9 dangerous goods with the correct labels and declarations
  • EU Battery Regulation (EU) 2023/1542: labelling and producer obligations for whoever places the batteries on the Irish market
  • Producer registration for batteries in Ireland (directly or through a compliance scheme) for the importer of record

Goods that fail compliance or pre-shipment QC stay in China at the factory's cost, you do not pay freight on non-compliant product.

Landed-cost context

What this lands at in Ireland

High-capacity and tag-on batteries cost more than standard packs, and dangerous-goods freight costs more than general cargo. Batteries are usually best combined with a screen and parts order so the DG shipping cost is spread. We quote landed cost including DG freight, duty and 23% VAT.

Lead time and logistics

Lead time: Common models usually in stock; tested and packed within days, then shipped on a dangerous-goods-approved route (allow extra time versus screens).

Lithium-ion batteries packed on their own ship as UN3480 dangerous goods: limited state of charge, individual short-circuit protection, Class 9 labels and a DG declaration. Not every carrier or route accepts them, so we book batteries on approved routes rather than slipping them into a general parcel.

Common questions

Electronics, sourcing questions answered

Can phone batteries be shipped from China to Ireland legally?

Yes, as dangerous goods. Lithium-ion batteries shipped on their own are classed as UN3480. They need a UN38.3 test report for the battery model, an MSDS, limited state of charge, short-circuit protection, Class 9 labelling and a dangerous-goods declaration. We handle the paperwork and book them on carriers that accept them.

Will a replacement battery show battery health on an iPhone?

On newer iPhones a non-genuine battery can show an "Unknown Part" message and may not display battery health. Some aftermarket solutions, such as tag-on flex or repair-board options, are designed to deal with this, and results change with iOS versions. We tell you which solution each battery uses and what it shows on the current iOS before you buy.

How do you check the batteries before shipping?

We test capacity against the rated mAh, check the cycle count and the cell date code so you do not receive old stock, and inspect for swelling and connector damage. Batteries that fail are rejected in Shenzhen.

Do I need to register as a battery producer in Ireland?

If your business is the importer that places batteries on the Irish market, producer obligations under the EU Battery Regulation and Irish rules apply, usually met by registering and joining a compliance scheme. We flag this at quote stage so you can set it up before the first shipment lands.
