Packaging now has its own EU regulation
The EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (EU) 2025/40 applies in Ireland from 12 August 2026. Importers must check packaging conforms before it goes on the market, keep the supporting documents, and show their name and contact details on the packaging or with it. Harmonised labelling and recyclability rules follow over the next few years.

What does the EU Packaging Regulation mean for imported packaging?
The EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (EU) 2025/40 applies in Ireland from 12 August 2026, with more requirements phasing in later, including harmonised labelling and recyclability and recycled-content rules. Importers have to check packaging conforms before placing it on the market, keep the documentation, and put their name and contact details on the packaging or with it. We build those requirements into the artwork check and the supplier documents.
Do I need to join Repak?
If your business places packaged goods on the Irish market, you will usually have packaging producer responsibility obligations, which most businesses meet by joining Repak. Check your obligations with Repak; we give you the packaging weights and materials by component so reporting is straightforward.
How do you make sure the colours match?
We work from your print-ready files and Pantone references, get a printed proof for sign-off, and check the first production sheets against the approved proof under a light booth before the run continues. For repeat orders we keep the approved proof as the standard.
What is the minimum order for custom boxes?
It depends on the box type and print. Printed folding cartons and mailer boxes usually start in the low thousands of units; rigid boxes and special finishes cost more per unit at low volumes. We quote a few quantity breaks so you can see where the price per box drops.
Can the packaging go straight to the factory making my product?
Yes, and that is usually the best route. Packaging printed in Dongguan or Shenzhen can be delivered to the product factory, filled and inspected there, and shipped to Ireland as finished goods.
