Guangdong (Shenzhen IoT / smart-home cluster)
The Shenzhen IoT cluster, anchored by platforms like Tuya, lets a buyer commission white-label devices, your branding, your app, your packaging, across Wi-Fi, Zigbee, Thread and Matter. It is the lowest-cost route to a credible own-brand smart-home range without developing hardware from scratch.

What we verify at the factory, before the container is sealed
- RED 2014/53/EU, including the cybersecurity requirements of Delegated Regulation (EU) 2022/30 (Art. 3.3 d/e/f), mandatory from 1 August 2025
- LVD 2014/35/EU and EMC 2014/30/EU
- RoHS 2011/65/EU
- CE marking + EU Declaration of Conformity
- Matter certification verifiable for devices sold as Matter-compatible
Goods that fail compliance or pre-shipment QC stay in China at the factory's cost, you do not pay freight on non-compliant product.
Ask about compliance documentation →What this lands at in Ireland
White-label smart-home devices bought factory-direct from Shenzhen typically land in Ireland 40–55% below distributor or own-brand-via-intermediary pricing. Most IoT devices attract 0–3.7% EU import duty depending on HS code; VAT at 23% applies on CIF + duty. Critically, wireless IoT products must now meet the RED cybersecurity requirements, we verify this at the factory, since non-compliant radio products cannot lawfully be placed on the EU market.
Lead time and logistics
Lead time: 5–8 weeks production (longer for custom app/branding) + 4–5 weeks sea freight.
Devices ship cartonised on pallets; retail-packaged orders are shrink-wrapped and barcoded to your spec. Ériu Sourcing verifies the EU Declaration of Conformity, including RED cybersecurity conformity, and any Matter certification before shipment.
Electronics, sourcing questions answered
Do smart-home devices from China meet the new EU cybersecurity rules?
They must. Since 1 August 2025, wireless products covered by the Radio Equipment Directive must meet the cybersecurity requirements of Delegated Regulation (EU) 2022/30 (Article 3.3 d/e/f) to be placed on the EU market. Ériu Sourcing verifies a current EU Declaration of Conformity covering these requirements at the factory before shipment, this is now a hard gate, not a nice-to-have.
Can I get my own brand and app on the devices?
Yes. The Tuya and white-label ecosystem in Shenzhen is designed for own-brand supply, your logo, retail packaging, and either a co-branded Smart Life setup or a fully white-label app and cloud. Custom branding raises the minimum order; we confirm the MOQ for your specification.
Should I choose Wi-Fi, Zigbee, Thread or Matter?
It depends on the range and the ecosystems you want to support. Wi-Fi is simplest for plugs/switches; Zigbee/Thread suit larger sensor networks; Matter maximises cross-ecosystem compatibility (including Apple Home). We help you choose at brief stage and specify Matter-certified hardware where that is the goal.
What import duty applies to smart-home devices from China to Ireland?
Most IoT and smart-home devices attract 0–3.7% EU import duty depending on the HS code, with VAT at 23% on CIF plus duty. We confirm the exact rate per product before order commitment and provide a full landed-cost calculation.
